Which is the correct choice for your family
...New, Used, Traditional or
Digital?

The Simple answer to this
question is to buy the best piano you can
comfortably afford, that best suits your musical
and lifestyle needs. Unfortunately, it is
not always that simple. A student that is
beginning to learn music does not require a
concert quality musical instrument... but they
do need a good one!
Resist the temptation to buy an
old “klunker“. It is difficult enough to
learn to play a musical instrument without
having to deal with squeaks, rattles, keys that
stick and otherwise don't work properly.
Children especially get discouraged easily by
such problems and will be quick to comment that
their piano is different from their teachers.
Good quality musical instruments
have a proven history of maintaining their value
(most even go up) You will not lose your money
so invest in a good piano and give your child
the best possible chance to succeed.
It is strongly
recommended that you avoid purchasing any piano
that has been originally manufactured for a
humid destination and then imported into a low
humidity country such as Canada. Mr.
Hayashida, General Manager of the engineering
Division for Yamaha Piano Manufacturing, has
stated that “Potential customers for used Yamaha
Pianos
available for sale in countries outside their
original destination should be made aware of
some of the possible technical difficulties that
can be encountered with these pianos; action
problems, loosening of tuning pins, possible pin
block failure, warping and cracking of wood
parts and separation of glue joints. The
'Super Dry“ conditions encountered during the
winter in most Canadian homes is extremely
difficult for pianos, and even well known name
brand pianos, (such as Yamaha) which have not
been seasoned for this climate will almost
always develop problems after a short time.
In addition, these pianos carry NO WARRANTY from
Yamaha Canada and any replacement parts, when
needed, are not available from Yamaha Canada.
A top quality new piano is always a good
purchase. These instruments are manufactured by
companies having a reputation for building
instruments whose musical performance,
durability and serviceability are well respected
in the musical community. Pianos made by these
builders, such as Yamaha, are always a solid
investment.
A low quality new piano is not recommended.
They are generally made in parts of the world
that take advantage of an uneducated and
therefore unskilled labor force. The skill of
the manufacturer is usually questionable, and
the materials suspect. Their reputation is for making instruments that have
few merits beyond low price. Pianos such as this
have little, if any resale value. Remember the
Honest Truth...
A carefully reconditioned piano bought from a
reputable piano dealer is almost certainly a
better choice than a poorly made new piano. We
take great pride in the attention that we give
to our pre-enjoyed instruments. We know that
your child’s musical success depends in large
part on the performance of the piano during this
very critical beginning period. Our experience
of over 20 years has given us the well deserved
reputation as the area’s full service dealer of
quality reconditioned pianos and in new pianos
we are very proud of our longtime association
with YAMAHA PIANOS.
Today you also have the added advantage of
choosing a
Clavinova digital piano which is widely
accepted now as a great alternative to the
acoustic piano.
